Surprise, surprise: Harlem residents are all, “WTF? Naw,” over these Harlem Shake videos. While the meme takes its name from the Baauer song used in the hiimrawn video that inspired everyone from College Humor to the Norwegian Army to create their own versions, the dance called “the Harlem shake” was created in 1981 and is actually quite different. Watching the dances side-by-side, it’s no wonder the people in the video above are so aghast.
